Future comments matching any of those items will automatically be moderated.
3. Tolero spam filter
Spam filer works by checking a user behavior via webserver log file.
4. Peter’s Custom Anti-Spam

You can customize the pool of words to display. The comment form protection in this plugin is compatible with WordPress and WordPress MU.
5. Defensio Anti-Spam
Defensio is an advanced spam filtering web service that learns and adapts to your behaviors and those of your readers.Advanced features such as support for OpenID, detailed statistics, charts, RSS feed of our comments (innocent and spam) and counter widget are also available.
6. WP-Spam-Hitman
WP Spam Hitman is based on set of rules and concept of hitpoint. With right set of rules and hitpoint level you can eliminate most or even all of the spam on you blog. It works in 3 modes – Delete, Moderation, Spam and is quite customizable. It allows to set unlimited set of rules – both – simple words and regular expression patterns. It’s simple but powerfull tool for fighting with spam.
7. Spam-Stopper
The whole idea to this plugin is to keep spammer robots from posting on your blog, reducing the space taken by spam messages in the database, and preventing your blog from being a spam magnet. You can ask anything, keep it simple and obvious, e.g. Is the sky Green? NO!. Doing this will stop stupid bots from being able to post.It only shows up when you are logged out, so you dont have to fill it in if your an admin. On top of this, it also adds javascript validation to the form to ensure the required fields are filled in.
8. SI CAPTCHA Anti-Spam
Adds CAPTCHA anti-spam methods to WordPress on the comment form, registration form, login, or all. In order to post comments or register, users will have to type in the code shown on the image. This prevents spam from automated bots. Adds security. Works great with Akismet. Also is fully WP, WPMU, and BuddyPress compatible.
9. TanTanNoodles Simple Spam Filter
A simple pre-filter to weed out the most obvious comment spam (about 90% of all spam).Legitimate comments that get blocked (either by this plugin or by Akismet) can be presented with a captcha to confirm that the comment is legitimate. Comments that don’t pass the captcha will be immediately discarded.Helps you identify potential spam words (you can use this to tweak the plugin’s filters).
10. SpamShiv Spam Protection
Jackals build automated bots and spiders to crawl through the world wide web looking for vulnerable email addresses to add to their spam lists. Generally, the victims are unprotected “mailto” links. MailTo links are incredibly useful and often necessary to our sites. So how do you protect them from being harvested and siphons by ne’er-do-wells?
Commonly the bots and spiders are looking for the two tell-tale signs of an email address – the “@” and the following “.” The solution lies in finding ways to mask an email addresses from harvesters, siphons and phishers, while retaining the intended functionality of the “mailto” link. There are options like using HTML entities or using javascript, and this plugin will take care of that for you.
11. AVH First Defense Against Spam
The AVH First Defense Against Spam plugin gives you the ability to block spammers before any content is served. Spammers are identified by checking if the visitors IP exists in a database served by stopforumspam.com, the Project Honey Pot or a local blacklist.
12. Block-Spam-By-Math
This plugin protects registration, login and comment forms from spambots by adding a simple math question to it (“what is 4+3 ?”). This approach should give you 100% anti-spam protection to your sites.
13. Delete Spam Daily
This plugin schedules a daily event using wp_cron that deletes all comments marked “spam” in the database, then optimizes the comments table.
Brief reason why I made such a low-tech plugin:
Akismet catches all the spam, but when I was looking at the size of my backups one day, I noticed that there were large numbers of comment spam across several sites that were undeleted and they made the databases fairly large. So I setup a cron job on my server that deletes the spam.
14. Spam Karma 2 Blacklist Ban
Once an IP address is knee-deep in Spam Karma’s blacklist, Spam Karma will never approve a comment from this IP, no matter how often it tries.
Unfortunately, many of these IPs don’t stop trying, thus wasting your bandwidth and server resources.
This small plugin bans them.
15. Spam Free
Get your WordPress Blog Spam-Free with this plugin. Normal users doesnt even know your using it. But it keeps away the spammers.
